To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Gintama anime, the franchise is returning to the silver screen with a reimagined adaptation of one of its most legendary story arcs.
At Jump Festa ’26, the official trailer and key visual were unveiled for the feature film Gintama: Yoshiwara Daienjō (Gintama: Yoshiwara on Fire). This production serves as a fresh cinematic take on the iconic Yoshiwara in Flames arc, which originally aired in episodes 139–146 of the television series. This theatrical version will be enhanced with brand-new scenes and character appearances that were not featured in the original anime broadcast.
The promotional footage also highlights the film’s main theme song, titled “Sanzen,” performed by the acclaimed rock band SUPER BEAVER.
The film is directed by Naoya Ando (Paradox Live), with a screenplay penned by Taku Kishimoto (Blue Lock). Yoichi Fujita, the primary director of the original Gintama anime, is overseeing the project as general supervisor. Character designs and chief animation direction are being handled by franchise veteran Shinji Takeuchi. Animation production is led by Bandai Namco’s BN Pictures.
Gintama: Yoshiwara Daienjō is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters on February 13, 2026.
