The first trailer for the Detective Pikcahu film has dropped, and it’s simply as odd as – and barely extra enjoyable than – you’d anticipate.
Warner Bros. has launched the first official trailer for Detective Pikachu, the primary ever live-action Pokemon film, and it’s fairly bizarre to listen to Ryan Reynolds’ voice popping out of an unexpectedly fuzzy Pikachu.
“The story begins when ace private eye Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry’s former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself,” reads the video description.
“Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City—a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world—they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe.”
Ryan Reynolds was cast as the pokemon de jour last year, with the function apparently involving a considerable amount of movement seize.
Justice Smith stars alongside the pocket-sized critter as Tim, with Ken Watanabe as Lt. Yoshida, and Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) directing.
Pikachu received’t be the one pokemon we’ll see; there’s a “wide array of beloved Pokémon characters, each with its own unique abilities and personality.”
You can catch a glimpse of Dodrio, Charmander, Psyduck, Jigglypuff, and extra within the trailer, and a few of them are considerably extra fluffy than you may need imagined; and I wholeheartedly approve.
Detective Pikachu hits theatres on Friday, May 10, 2019.
