The ending year was full of hopes that, unfortunately, did not come to fruition. But this does not mean that we should not believe that 2025 will be better. It certainly will be. Congratulations to everyone on the upcoming year, and we wish you all the very best!
GTA 6
The disappointment of the year is, of course, the fact that developers have not shown anything new regarding GTA 6. This has frustrated fans so much that some started to create credible fakes and simply outrageous speculations, engaging in activities like moon gazing and constructing the “theory of 27” (part one, part two). It’s not surprising since the “six” is the most anticipated, the most desired, and will be the most iconic game not just of the year, but of the decade. Which decade? The year, not the decade—that would be too cruel. Though it’s hard to say, we (and not only us) believe that GTA 6 won’t be released next year, even though the rights holder insists otherwise. In 2025, it will be showcased and promoted. We already know a lot about the game, but we want to know more…
GTA Online
Meanwhile, the main GTA remains GTA Online. In March, it received the Cluckin’ Bell Farm Heist as part of last year’s winter update, in June—the Bottom Dollar Bounties add-on, and in December—the Agents of Sabotage DLC. October hosted the traditional Halloween celebration, and by year’s end—Christmas and New Year. A significant event was the implementation of the BattlEye anti-cheat. Important, but not entirely positive. We have no doubt that in 2025, the “rock stars” will please us with two new themed updates, as usual, in the summer and December. We already know for sure that GTA 5 and “Online” will receive an update for PC, which will upgrade them to the versions for the latest generation of consoles. We will get new content and technical features, available so far only to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S owners.
GTA: Trilogy — Definitive Edition
The “Definitive Edition” of the “Trilogy” seemed utterly neglected and appeared more desirable on mobile devices, but a month and a half ago the re-release was significantly improved on all platforms. There’s hope that within the next 12 months, they will revisit the issue of fixing the collection’s problems once again. However, “GTA 3” and “Vice City” seemingly won’t appear in the Netflix subscription.
Red Dead
The release of the year—the launch of the first Red Dead Redemption on PC. An event that had been awaited for nearly 15 years! Although not anticipated for so long, another release was also pleasing and interesting for fans—a book about RDR. As for the cowboys in Red Dead Online, while they may not need to expect server closures, they should prepare themselves for the possibility that it might happen in the coming years. Another step toward this has already been taken.
Mafia
The creators of the latest “Mafia” installment announced a prequel in August—Mafia: The Old Country. By the end of the year, a full reveal with a trailer, screenshots, and a myriad of details was made. The wait won’t be long—the release of “The Old Country” is planned for the upcoming summer. In a mere six months, we’ll be off to early 20th-century Sicily. And, importantly, the immersion will be aided by Ukrainian localization—the first official one within the franchise.
Max Payne
Work on the remake of the first and second Max Payne continues. Development is in an active stage, but it may take another year and a half to two years.

- 2019 Dodge Charger SRT Police and 2022 Dodge Charger SR.
What else interesting happened over the year?
- Enthusiasts managed not only to launch GTA 3 on the Sega Dreamcast in July, but also significantly improve the port and even release an alpha version.
- We had to say goodbye to beloved resources: the GTA:OG project, lifeinvader.com website, the Xbox 360 digital store, Game Informer magazine.
- Rockstar Racing participated twice in races at the Nürburgring: in June and in November.
- Patrick Brown’s return to the Grand Theft Auto theme.
- GTA and RDR found a place in a museum.
- “Rockstar folks” were once again upset by a Christmas leak.
- GTA.com.ua appeared on Discord for your convenience.
