In an unexpected twist to the Fortnite cosmetics system, Epic Games has revealed that items introduced in future Battle Passes may later be available for purchase in the Shop.
Previously, since the inception of the Battle Pass in Fortnite’s Season 2, all Seasonal cosmetics were exclusively tied to their respective seasons and couldn’t be reintroduced. In a blog post published today, Epic detailed their decision to abolish this exclusivity, allowing items to be re-released 18 months after their Battle Pass concludes.
While the specific mechanics and pricing for these Battle Pass cosmetics in the Item Shop were not disclosed, Epic did offer several important insights:
- Battle Pass items might feature a varying number of alt Styles each time they are available in the Shop
- All types of cosmetics can become accessible in the Shop after an 18-month period
- Not every item is assured a return
- Some items will remain Battle Pass-exclusive but will be explicitly marked in-game
- Bonus Rewards and Quest Rewards can also become available in the Shop
- Cosmetics from collaborative Battle Passes may also appear in the Shop after 18 months
Epic confirmed that the Battle Pass pricing will stay at 950 V-Bucks, with a total of 1,500 V-Bucks attainable as rewards. Similarly, the giftable price of the Battle Pass will remain stable across regions.
It is crucial to note that these changes will not retroactively apply to prior Battle Passes. Iconic outfits like Deadpool, Midas, and Ultima Knight will remain exclusive to their respective Battle Passes. Chapter 5 Season 4 will be the first to implement this new structure, with its cosmetics eligible for return in May 2026.
