FIFA 22: following accusations of sexual assault, Electronic Arts loose Pierre Ménès

After the broadcast of the documentary “I’m not a bitch, I’m a journalist“(which we owe to Marie Portolano) last Sunday on Canal +, Pierre Ménès certainly had no idea that the week was going to be extremely complicated for him. Indeed, in the course of the evening, Les Jours published an article revealing that the management of the channel had asked that certain sequences of the documentary be withdrawn, including one directly concerning Pierre Ménès singled out for his repeated acts of sexual assault.

The affair spread like wildfire on the Web, so that certain political figures (Roxana Maracineanu, Marlène Schiappa among others) did not hesitate to speak out on the subject. While one wonders if Canal + will be able to forever defend the flagship columnist of the Canal Football Club, Electronic Arts, for its part, has decided to decide in the quick. After giving himself a period of reflection, the American publisher has decided to cease his collaboration with Pierre Ménès, the latter commenting on FIFA matches since 2016 alongside his friend Hervé Mathoux.

It is very important to us that the behavior of our athletes and partners is in line with the values of EA SPORTS FIFA, can we read in a press release. Following the actions of Pierre Ménès, we immediately put an end to our relationship with him. EA will therefore not integrate Pierre Ménès’ comments in FIFA 22 or in later versions of the game. While we are ending our relationship with Pierre Ménès immediately and his comments will not be incorporated into FIFA 22 and later versions of the game, we are sensitive to the inconvenience that the removal of his comments could cause in the current game. Players who no longer wish to hear Pierre Ménès’ comments have the option of updating their in-game settings and selecting another language from a number of choices.

It remains to be seen who will replace Pierre Ménès in FIFA 22, the latter having succeeded Franck Sauzée.
