The ax has just fallen: Benjamin Mendy was purely and simply withdrawn from the FIFA 22 game following accusations of rape and sexual assault to which he is the subject. Imprisoned since August as a preventive measure, the Manchester City player has already been suspended by his club who did not wish to comment on the situation as long as the investigation is underway. For Electronic Arts, the decision was immediate, like what was done with Pierre Ménès last March, also accused of sexism and sexual assault.
As Benjamin Mendy has been removed from Manchester City and the French national squad, he is also being removed from those respective squads in Fifa 22 and his appearance in FIFA Ultimate Team and Ultimate Draft is on hold pending trial.
Note that the withdrawal of Mendy was carried out 24 hours after the launch of the trial version on EA Play, which means that players have managed to play with it before the update carried out by Electronic Arts. The release of FIFA 22 is scheduled for October 1, 2022 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, PS4 and Xbox One.
