Far Cry 5’s promise: “Go in any route, meet any character, partake in any story”

The Far Cry sequence prides itself on freedom of method – the power to evaluate a state of affairs, weigh your choices and resolve, ‘Yes, I’m going to journey an elephant into that navy base’. But its tales have all the time been linear – instructed to you in chunks within the vogue of GTA.

No longer. In a significant narrative shake-up, Far Cry 5 has chopped up its story with a machete in order that it’s “entirely up to you.”

“We’ve always been pushing for big, expansive open-worlds, but the narrative has been fairly linear,” Far Cry 5 govt producer and artistic director Dan Hay instructed us. “Why couldn’t we just do that with the entire game? Why couldn’t we make it so you could go in any direction, meet any character, partake in any story? You could play it completely differently and it was entirely up to you how you authored it.”

When you begin Far Cry 5, you should have one very particular second with the Father, the sport’s radical preacher villain. And, from then on, you decide the order of occasions.

“If you decide to go south you might meet Nick, you might meet Pastor Jerome, you might meet Casey,” Hay expands. “There’s a bunch of different characters down there.”

But for those who headed north, your first ten hours with the sport could be totally totally different – colored by totally different animals, totally different individuals, totally different segments of story.

“It’s designed so that you author your own story,” Hay finishes.
