  • The surveyed group includes a “who’s who” of gaming royalty, such as Devil May Cry mastermind Hideki Kamiya, legendary Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka, Street Fighter 6 director Takayuki Nakayama, and the veteran Tekken lead Katsuhiro Harada.

    While the full list of individual ballots isn’t always immediately available on the Famitsu site, they often surface shortly after, revealing intriguing insights into creator preferences. For example, in 2024, Final Fantasy XIV director Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) famously chose only one title—the Dawntrail expansion for his own game—while Castlevania veteran Koji Igarashi threw his support behind the Castlevania Dominus Collection.

    Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 director recently shared that while Sandfall “experimented” with AI during production, they ultimately abandoned it in favor of traditional craftsmanship.
