Hollow Knight: Silksong fan attempts to beat the game using strong language instead of a sword

It is a little-known fact that taunts in this game actually register as damage.

A dedicated Hollow Knight: Silksong enthusiast, known on YouTube as Bloblumord The 3rd, has taken on an extraordinary challenge: defeating every boss in the game using Hornet’s taunts as his primary offensive tool instead of her traditional weapons.

Bloblumord determined that his sole method of engagement would be Hornet’s taunt, triggered by the ‘V’ key or the right thumbstick. When activated, the protagonist exclaims “Garama”—a local verbal barb in the realm of Pharloom. While easily overlooked, this gesture deals a minuscule amount of damage when performed in close proximity to a foe—roughly six units with the initial Hunter’s Crest equipped, according to the player’s findings.

This self-imposed restriction turns encounters into grueling tests of endurance, as typical boss vulnerabilities cannot be exploited. For context, overcoming the boss Trobbio required nearly a full hour of gameplay. However, to bypass the limitations of the taunt against aerial adversaries, he must occasionally recruit NPCs, as taunts alone are insufficient for grounded-to-air combat.
