Distinguished voice actress and *Divinity: Original Sin* veteran Alix Wilton Regan was captivated by the visceral debut trailer for the next *Divinity* installment. Revealed at The Game Awards, the footage featured a harrowing scene where a man, trapped within a wicker statue, is roasted over an open flame like a piece of livestock.

"I absolutely loved it," Regan remarked in a recent interview. Regan, who voiced various characters in the original game and took on the role of the elven protagonist Sebille in *Original Sin 2*, noted the creative similarities to cinematic history. "It felt like a dark homage to the cult classic *The Wicker Man*." In that 1973 folk horror masterpiece, a police sergeant meets a similarly grim fate as a sacrifice to ensure a bountiful harvest.

"I have a deep appreciation for folk horror, and that trailer was wonderfully unsettling," Regan added, highlighting the "deliciously" macabre tone of the reveal. Larian Studios intentionally emphasized the gruesome parallels between human suffering and a feast, juxtaposing shots of tearing tendons with revelers stripping meat from bones. As the sacrifice burns, a pig rotates on a spit nearby—a grim celebration of fire and flesh.

"I'm incredibly curious to see where they take the story next," Regan says. However, despite her history with the franchise, she mentioned that she hasn't yet been invited to participate in the new project by Larian. The operative word, of course, is *yet*.

While anticipation builds, Larian CEO Swen Vincke has suggested that the earlier Divinity titles are somewhat "outdated" by modern standards, advising new players to skip them unless they are deeply invested in the series' lore.
