Gracie Abrams, Aaron Dessner, and Bon Iver Unveil New Collaboration to Combat Gun Violence

The festive season was recently overshadowed by a series of devastating tragedies, including the heartbreaking shooting at Brown University and the violent incident at Bondi Beach in Australia. In a poignant response to these events, Gracie Abrams has teamed up with frequent collaborators Aaron Dessner and Bon Iver to release a charity single benefiting Everytown for Gun Safety, a prominent non-profit organization dedicated to ending gun violence.

The evocative new track, titled “Sold Out,” features Abrams delivering haunting lyrics that reflect a sense of systemic failure and collective anxiety. “The system works and we all stay terrified / What are we doing here, think we got sold out,” she sings, capturing the frustration of a generation seeking change. The single is currently available for purchase on Bandcamp for $5, with proceeds supporting Everytown’s mission.

“We composed this piece last year following a school shooting, and we were pulled back to it this week as our hearts broke once again,” the trio shared in a collective statement. “Sharing such a somber track during the holidays is difficult, but the world is in pain and we cannot afford to look away. We are honored to support Everytown and their relentless work to reduce gun violence in America.”

Aaron Dessner also took to social media to praise Abrams for her ability to channel “profound collective grief” into a meaningful call to action. Abrams, a Grammy-nominated artist, has a history of utilizing her platform to address social and political issues. Following the recent tragedies and the reported deaths of Michele and Rob Reiner, she didn’t hold back in criticizing political rhetoric she deemed “indefensible” and “poisonous.”

“It is becoming increasingly difficult to find the words to articulate the pain felt across the globe,” Abrams added, noting that she is “lighting a candle” for all those suffering in the wake of these events.
