Detroit: Become Human sold nearly a million copies in two weeks – analysts
Despite its 2018 debut, Detroit: Become Human is experiencing a massive resurgence in popularity on Steam.
According to data from Alinea Analytics, the title moved approximately 993,000 units between December 21, 2025, and January 5, 2026—reaching nearly a million sales in just a fortnight. This surge propelled the project to the second-highest sales position on the platform, trailing only behind ARC Raiders, which saw roughly 1.2 million copies sold.
The catalyst for this sudden spike was an unprecedented discount, with the price plummeting from $40 to a mere $4. This represents the most significant price drop in the game’s history on Steam, making it more accessible than ever before.
Detroit: Become Human is a deeply emotional, choice-driven narrative experience. Much like cinematic titles such as Beyond: Two Souls, Heavy Rain, and Until Dawn, it grants players complete agency over character decisions, allowing them to shape a complex story featuring numerous branching paths and diverse endings.
Player engagement peaked on January 4, 2026, with 25,615 concurrent users. This renewed interest serves as a testament to the fact that high-quality, story-rich games can maintain incredible commercial momentum years after their initial release.
