DaBaby has scheduled his second music festival within one week after his controversial Rolling Loud Miami performance cost him several gigs.
The embattled rapper has been added to Boosie Badazz‘s festival Boosie Bash, which also features Lil Baby, Coi Leray, Mooski, Bobby Shmurda, Jacquees, Morray and many more. Boosie Bash will take place on Saturday, Aug. 28, at Southern University’s A.W. Mumford Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. Boosie defended DaBaby shortly after the “Rockstar” rapper’s Rolling Loud Miami performance on Instagram Live while also using homophobic slurs targeted at Lil Nas X.
On Sunday (Aug. 22), DaBaby returned to the stage at Hot97’s Summer Jam 2021 at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, one month after he made homophobic and misinformed comments about HIV/AIDS at Rolling Loud Miami. He told the crowd, “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that’ll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up. Ladies, if your p—y smell like water, put your cellphone lighter up. Fellas, if you ain’t sucking d— in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up.”
The 25-year-old rapper later issued a formal apology — which has since been removed from his Instagram account — “to the LGBTQ+ community for the hurtful and triggering comments I made” while emphasizing his need for education.
During his first festival back, the “Rockstar” MC offered a mea culpa by telling the crowd he “never, ever meant to offend anybody.” In an opening video that played onstage, DaBaby thanked the New York radio station for being “willing to stick they neck out on the line, willing to go against all odds with everything going on out here in the world — they still allowed me to come right here on this stage and utilize their platform.”
DaBaby was removed from seven music festivals and live performances following his tirade: Lollapalooza, Governors Ball, Austin City Limits, Day N Vegas, iHeartRadio Music Festival, Music Midtown Festival and a concert organized by Working Families Party.
