Corning has introduced Gorilla Glass 7i tempered glass for entry-level and mid-range smartphones
The new glass is intended to replace Gorilla Glass 5, which has been used for many years in devices within this price segment, while the top-tier Gorilla Glass Victus 2 will remain exclusive to flagship models.
The new product has a thickness of 0.50-0.70 mm and a density of 2.41 g/cm³. Gorilla Glass 7i will also be used in smartwatches, tablets, laptops, and cameras, but specific partners and release dates are currently unknown.
The company has also released a video demonstrating drop and scratch resistance tests.
