Chris Young and Kane Brown‘s “Famous Friends” ascends to No. 1 on Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart (dated July 17), up 2% to 32.8 million audience impressions in the week ending July 11, according to MRC Data.
The RCA Nashville release, which Young co-penned with Corey Crowder and Cary Barlowe, is the title track from Young’s album, due Aug. 6.
“It really never gets old hearing you have the No. 1 song in the country,” Young marvels to Billboard. “I’m so thankful for Kane, Corey Crowder and Cary Barlowe, the RCA staff and all of country radio for this one.”
Young claims his 10th Country Airplay leader and first since “Losing Sleep” in February 2018. He first reigned with “Voices” in February 2011.
Brown adds his sixth leader, having last dominated with “Homesick” in March 2020. He first led with “What Ifs,” featuring Lauren Alaina, in October 2017.
‘FANCY’ FIRST IN STREAMS Walker Hayes’ viral hit “Fancy Like” crowns Country Streaming Songs, flying from No. 5 to become his first leader. It surged by 65% to 12.1 million streams and sold 21,900 in the tracking week. On Country Airplay, it debuts at No. 53 with 886,000 impressions.
“Fancy” pushes 4-3 on the airplay-, sales- and streaming-based Hot Country Songs chart, sparking another new career-best rank for Hayes. It continues to gain traction on TikTok, where he boasts over 900,000 followers, thanks partly to more clips posted in the tracking week of him dancing to the song with his children.
NEW TOP 10s Justin Moore scores his 12th Country Airplay top 10 as “We Didn’t Have Much” rises 11-9 (18.7 million, up 13%).
Plus, Luke Bryan banks his 32nd Country Airplay top 10 as “Waves” crashes the region with a 15-10 swell (18.3 million, up 26%).
RIDING IN Garth Brooks debuts at No. 48 on Country Airplay with “That’s What Cowboys Do” (1.1 million audience impressions). The song is his 92nd career entry on the chart, a total that includes 19 leaders among 36 top 10s. The new single from Brooks’ album Fun moves him closer to the only acts with more visits: George Strait (100) and Kenny Chesney (94).
