Celeste shares its motion code for all to see at

The makers of Celeste have shared a giant slab of the platformer’s code, letting everybody dig down into the intricacies of its motion. “Maybe it’ll interest you if you’re curious how some part of that works!” recreation director Matt Thorson said. Given how secretive the video games trade might be, it’s good to see a recreation with such great-feeling motion spill its guts for all to examine.

“We just posted our 5400-line Player class (C#) from Celeste in all its messy, mostly-undocumented glory,” Thorson defined on Thursday. “This is the code that handles Player input/movement/states.”

If you’re curious, have a nostril over on GitHub. I’m no programmer so what I can glean from it’s restricted, however I’m positive many will get pleasure from it. I’d even be curious to see if this degree of perception helps speedrunners hone methods and grasp quirks.

I’ve no sensible or mental use for this myself however I shall definitely memorise a couple of traces so I can barge into discussions of Celeste spouting such knowledge as “Ah sure nicely however what else would you count on provided that ClimbUpCost = 100 / 2.2f?” You are all inspired to throw drinks in my face when I attempt to pull this nonsense.
