Community Content Exhibit Vol. 17
Welcome to an enhanced edition of our community newsletters! Similar to our previous iterations, we will delve into an assortment of mods with each newsletter. However, we’re now broadening our horizons to include a closer examination of community content like streamers, videos, shorts, and artwork!

Today, we’re mixing things up a bit. We have an exclusive conversation lined up with one of our developers, Ethan, better known in modding circles from the early days of Ready or Not as QuantumNuke. We’ll also touch on a brief note about our potential physical appearances later this year.

1. Can you introduce yourself?

I’m Ethan, also recognized as QuantumNuke. I hold the position of a junior programmer at VOID, initially starting off as a modder for Ready or Not. VOID noticed my work while I was still at university, began by hiring me part-time, and then transitioned me to a full-time role after I graduated.

2. How long have you been with VOID?

I’ve been a part of VOID for two years and nine months.

3. When did you start modding?

Ready or Not was my first serious modding venture. Although I dabbled in modding other games, none engaged me quite like Ready or Not did.

4. How long did you work specifically with Ready or Not?

I started modding shortly after the game entered its early access release and continued until VOID contacted me. During that period, there were a few community members actively creating mods, which inspired and encouraged me to dive into the modding community myself.

5. What was your reaction when VOID reached out to you?

It was an exhilarating experience. I had heard of modders being hired by studios but never anticipated it happening to me. Recognizing that my work had garnered the attention of a studio was immensely rewarding. While seeing mod downloads increase and reading user comments was gratifying, receiving a job offer was a personal validation of a different magnitude, especially for a game I had invested so much time and passion in modding.

6. Has your perspective on game development changed since you started working in the industry?

Definitely. As a player, I never fully grasped the intricacies of game development or the challenges teams face on a regular basis. I used to be among those who complained about bugs or delays, but my industry experience has provided me with a newfound understanding and appreciation for the obstacles developers encounter throughout development.

7. Any advice for aspiring game developers or budding modders?

Begin working on something and persevere through any challenges you face. Experiment with new ideas, complete your projects, and openly share your work with the community. Gaining hands-on experience by creating and contributing is invaluable, and people will take notice of your dedication and passion.

8. Is there anything you’d like to convey to our player base?

A huge thank you for all your support. Watching everyone enjoy the game and reading both your positive and constructive feedback is enormously meaningful for us as developers.

Now, regarding our appearances.
Heading into Q2 and beyond, we are committed to participating in more gaming-focused events to both strengthen our connection with the community and expand our reach among industry peers, akin to many distinguished studios.

Further announcements will precede the events we plan to attend and will detail the manner of our participation. Don’t hesitate to approach and chat with us if you see us—we should be easy to spot and may have some goodies for the players who find us.

Looking forward, we anticipate the unique contributions from the community as we enhance the game to offer modders more tools and possibilities to enrich their craft.
