After just one day of availability, Bo Burnham’s Inside (The Songs), the soundtrack album to his new Netflix comedy special Bo Burnham: Inside, debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Comedy Albums chart and No. 116 on the Billboard 200 (dated June 19).
The soundtrack debuts with 9,000 equivalent album units earned in the tracking week ending June 10, according to MRC Data. As the soundtrack was released on June 10, all 9,000 of its units were earned in one day. Of that sum, 3,000 were in pure sales, resulting in its debut at No. 44 on the Top Album Sales chart.
The album earns Burnham his fourth No. 1 on the Comedy Albums chart, following his 2009 self-titled LP, 2010’s Words Words Words and 2014’s what. He also reached No. 3 on the chart in 2008 with his debut EP Bo Fo Sho.
Dating to the launch of the Comedy Albums chart in 2004, Burnham is just the eighth solo act to notch four No. 1s. He follows Larry the Cable Guy (seven No. 1s; the most among all acts), Jim Gaffigan (six), “Weird Al” Yankovic (five), Nephew Tommy (five), Dane Cook (four), Doug Stanhope (four) and Patton Oswalt (four).
Looking at his history on the Billboard 200, Inside (The Songs) earns Burnham his fourth entry, joining Bo Fo Sho (No. 123 peak in 2008), Bo Burnham (No. 105, 2009), and Words Words Words (No. 40, 2010).
As the set debuts after just one day of eligibility, the soundtrack is likely to see a gain in overall units and sales after its first full tracking week. That will be reflected on next week’s charts, dated June 26.
