“You can distinguish a true fantasy RPG when roleplaying as a landlord is a viable path,” Michael Douse, Larian’s director of publishing, joked, noting the game’s potential for a uniquely chaotic playthrough.

One of the most impressive features discussed is the handcrafted nature of the population. Each of the 1,000 NPCs possesses a unique perspective on the player based on their moral standing and past actions. In a particularly humorous segment of the Direct, a local villager referred to the hero as a ‘Rich Twat’ for monopolizing every shop in sight. This sharp, reactive writing won Douse over completely: “This has officially claimed the top spot on my most anticipated list.”

“It takes a keen eye to separate authentic British wit from performative whimsy, and Fable appears to be striking that perfect balance of cynical humor,” he added. “I’m very curious to see how international players react to its distinct voice.”
