Astroworld Refunding All Festivalgoers

Producers for this past weekend’s deadly Astroworld festival in Houston have announced refunds for all concertgoers.

In a statement released Monday (Nov. 8), ScoreMore Shows — which produced the event alongside Live Nation — announced full refunds would be coming and that they are “working on ways to support the attendees, the families of victims, and staff.”

Travis Scott’s third annual Astroworld festival held at NRG Stadium in Houston ended in tragedy after eight attendees lost their lives at Friday night’s event. While Scott performed, a crowd surge led to the deaths of eight fans ages 14-27, according to Houston officials. Another 25 individuals were rushed to the hospital and more than 300 were injured during the first day of the event. The remainder of the festival, scheduled to take place on Saturday, was canceled.

ScoreMore’s statement adds that they plan to offer support in the form of providing mental health counseling and setting up a health fund to help with medical costs associated with the incident. “Our entire team is mourning alongside the community,” the statement concludes.

Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino also released a statement Monday, stating, “Many families are dealing with the unimaginable right now and my heart goes out to them and the entire Astroworld community. We are dedicated to doing everything we can to get the families and fans the answers and support they deserve.”

More than two days after the fatal event, Houston officials are still assessing exactly what led to the annual festival turning fatal. ScoreMore Shows said they “have been working to provide local authorities with everything they need from us in order to complete their investigation and get everyone the answers they are looking for.”

The statement specifies that ScoreMore has provided local authorities with CCTV footage and has paused loading out the event to allow investigators time to document the grounds.
