Alpha Protocol, developer Obsidian’s 2010 espionage, action-RPG, is mysteriously not on the market on Steam anymore.
The product web page on Steam now reads:
“At the request of the publisher, Alpha Protocol is no longer available for sale on Steam.”
It’s unsure why writer Sega eliminated the game from the shop. Microsoft purchased Obsidian late last year, however Sega retained the rights to Alpha Protocol. Perhaps Microsoft has struck a deal for IP possession? Alpha Protocol launched to middling evaluations (though it holds very optimistic person evaluations on Steam), and Sega put an indefinite maintain on a sequel, however Obsidian told us it was nonetheless enthusiastic about creating a follow-up. Perhaps Microsoft obtained the rights to the IP, releasing up Obsidian to develop the sequel it at all times needed.
Or maybe, extra merely, Alpha Protocol will discover a new residence on the Epic Games Store, which developers are flocking to because the market takes a smaller lower out of their earnings.
We’ve reached out to Obsidian for remark and can replace the story because it develops…
