At the Tokyo Game Show, Xbox unveiled a deep-dive trailer for Ninja Gaiden 4. The title is scheduled for release on October 21, 2025, and aims to blend the heritage of the 3D entries with the high-octane, cinematic sensibilities associated with PlatinumGames—offering a contemporary take that still honors the franchise’s roots.
In the video, Masakazu Hirayama (director, Team Ninja) and Yuji Nakao (producer and director, PlatinumGames) discussed the core features in detail: the story follows the intertwined paths of Ryu Hayabusa and Yakumo, with cinematic interludes and a deliberate balance between raw combat momentum and quieter, introspective beats. The team explained that the combat preserves Ninja Gaiden’s signature fluidity while introducing new combos, counter moves, and a system for expanding abilities via Ninja Coins awarded for defeating bosses and tough enemy groups.
Customization will be a major focus—players can swap equipment and adjust combat styles. Three difficulty settings (Normal, Hard, and Epic) are intended to suit both newcomers and long-time fans. The developers also emphasized support for the speedrunning community: there will be missions designed specifically for time-attack runs.
Notable details include support for the ROG Xbox Ally, faithful recreations of Ryu and Yakumo’s swords, and integration with Game Pass.
