Substructure is Dubious Design’s newest title — the studio behind the UltraCube mod for Factorio. The team debuted the first trailer at the PC Gaming Show.
The game blends classic automation mechanics with a darker aesthetic: beneath familiar conveyor belts and pixel-art bases sprawls a vast, purple underworld.
The developers call the project a tribute to Factorio. In the story, a mysterious object at the edge of the Solar System pushes humanity to explore rather than retreat. Players descend into biomes lit by an unsettling glow, where forgotten lifeforms await.
Substructure fuses production-line construction with exploration across two interlinked layers — the surface and the depths. Enormous elevators and transport structures shuttle resources between them. The game is designed for cooperative play.
No release date has been announced yet. The developers say the game will arrive “in the near future.”
