Capcom Downgrades Resident Evil Requiem Graphics on PS5 Pro in New Patch
The latest update for Resident Evil 4 Remake has unexpectedly compromised visual fidelity on the PS5 Pro. Following the release of patch 1.11, Capcom disabled ray tracing in the opening Raccoon City environments—a change that was immediately flagged by players and technical analysts.
While the game still maintains a graphical edge over standard console versions, the impact on global illumination is significant. Ray tracing previously provided the realistic reflections and atmospheric depth that defined these scenes. Although the developers intended for the patch to reduce shimmering and temporal artifacts, the result is a less striking presentation, particularly regarding the diffused lighting on Leon and within open-world locations. It is a clear compromise: a cleaner image at the expense of the “wow factor.”
Capcom appears to have sacrificed high-end visual effects to prioritize performance stability. Since these regressions are currently confined to the initial district, there is hope that the developers will address community feedback and restore the lost fidelity in a future update.
