Fans Urge Insomniac to Hire Modder Who Showcased Improved Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Combat
The combat mechanics of Spider-Man: Web of Shadows are drawing praise from players years after the game’s release, prompted by a new community mod for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Modder ButtersTM is working on a combat overhaul for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 that allows the hero to fight while standing on walls, directly inspired by the 2008 title. Players discussing the project also recalled how Spider-Man: Web of Shadows let the protagonist switch to the symbiote suit mid-battle without breaking combat flow.
Some fans argued that Insomniac Games should take note of the modder’s work and bring him on board to help develop Marvel’s Spider-Man 3.

This is not the first time the combat system of Spider-Man: Web of Shadows has gained renewed attention online. Creator BeeG previously showcased a compilation of fights from the game, describing it as the standard for what the combat system should be in every Spider-Man title.
Insomniac Games is currently working on Marvel’s Wolverine, which is expected to launch on September 15 of this year on PlayStation 5, even as the studio faces active online criticism from some users.
