Marvel Rivals to Introduce Compensation for Players Affected by Cheaters in Matches
The developers of Marvel Rivals are cracking down on sabotage within ranked matches. NetEase Games has announced the implementation of a compensation system for affected players, alongside significantly harsher penalties for those who intentionally throw games.
This new mechanic, titled the “Victim Compensation Protocol,” aims to address the frustrations of the competitive community. In a formal statement released on X, the development team explained that the system is designed to provide restitution to players who find themselves outnumbered after teammates abandon a match.
The issue of “leaver incentives” has become a major pain point, where certain players exit matches at critical junctures, forcing their remaining teammates into a losing battle. This toxic behavior frequently results in unfair rank point deductions and undeserved losses for those who stay to finish the fight.
NetEase Games highlighted that these measures were developed in direct response to player feedback. The studio promises not only to suppress unfair gaming practices but also to actively compensate for the damage caused. Full details on the specific nature of the compensation—be it rank point restoration, in-game currency, or other rewards—will be revealed with the release of the next major update.
