Former Dying Light Franchise Head Looks for a “New Kojima” to Help Release an Unusual Game
Tymon Smektała, who worked on the Dying Light franchise for 13 years, has taken a new job as executive director of the publishing division at Broken Mirror Games, Bloober Team’s publishing label. He wants to work with talented developers who can bring new ideas.
In his new role, Smektała intends to find promising horror developers and help them reach their potential.
In an interview with GamesRadar+, he said he would like to find the next Hideo Kojima:
I will feel satisfied and fulfilled when we actually find a creator like that. I can easily imagine that we will find a game creator working on a smaller project, but we would see the strength of the vision there. With our help, this developer would get bigger, get better, and get access to our DNA as well, because we have lots of expertise in making horror games. This creator could become the next Kojima, even. Like, why not?

Smektała explained that Broken Mirror Games is looking for creators who can offer a fresh perspective on the genre. As reference points, he named the acclaimed films Obsession, Backrooms, and Weapons, whose creators offered “a new take on horror, something unique that enriches the genre”:
That is our main goal: to find new horror creators in the game industry who can complement and develop [our own projects].
Broken Mirror Games is currently working on a pair of projects: Saw: Genesis and Onyx: The Dark Grip.
