The cinematic adaptation of the Broadway sensation Wicked has officially debuted on international digital platforms, according to reports from the When To Stream portal.
Featuring powerhouse performances by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, the film serves as a reimagined prequel to the legendary Wizard of Oz. Based on the iconic 2003 stage musical, the narrative explores the transformative and complex friendship between the misunderstood Elphaba and the popular Glinda long before their titles were forged in Oz.
Helmed by director Jon M. Chu, the production has already proven to be a massive commercial triumph, surpassing $503 million at the worldwide box office.
