Watch Randy Rainbow Channel Judy Garland to Slam Josh Hawley & The GOP

Randy Rainbow

Randy Rainbow has a bone to pick with the Republican Party, and he’s evoking a classic song by Judy Garland to help get his point across.

On Monday (May 10), Rainbow shared his latest parody video, “Clang, Clang, Clang Went Josh Hawley!” In the clip, set to the tune of Garland’s “The Trolley Song” from the 1944 Christmas movie musical Meet Me in St. Louis, Rainbow lashes out against the senator from Missouri, along with many of his fellow Republican colleagues, for acting as what he calls “crackpot villains.”

The video begins, as many of Rainbow’s other videos do, with the Internet star performing a faux interview with Hawley, questioning him on his votes in the Senate, including ones where the senator voted against certifying an electoral college win for Joe Biden in the 2020 election, and where he was the only senator to vote against a bill aimed at combating hate crimes committed against Asian Americans.

Quickly after, Rainbow launched into his song, where he took Hawley and the rest of the GOP to task for their behavior since President Biden took office in January. “Since the last election caused an insurrection/ They’ve lost their goddamn minds,” he sang, wearing his best Judy Garland-inspired costume. “They blabber and spout, and they all tend to shout/ So I try to block out their noise.”

Hawley was far from the only person to receive Rainbow’s scorn: Matt Gaetz, Ted Cruz, Marjorie Taylor Green, Kevin McCarthy, Mitch McConnell and a number of other high-profile Republican congresspeople appear throughout the song, before Rainbow came to his final, hilarious conclusion: “They’ll continue to cheat and to spar and repeat all the garbage they sell/ ‘Til they all go to hell!”
