Tomb Raider Actor Feared Losing Lara Croft Role After Being “Blindsided” by Perfect Dark’s Cancellation

    “There was a vibrant ecosystem of creative collaboration in place that simply evaporated overnight. It was incredibly painful for everyone involved,” Wilton Regan explained. Despite various rumors about a potential rescue for the project, the revival never materialized.

    Wilton Regan continues her work with Crystal Dynamics as the new voice of Lara Croft. “My saving grace when Perfect Dark fell apart was the fact that I’d already been recording as Lara for about a year,” she admitted. Yet, the industry’s volatility remains a concern: “I was immensely relieved to still have Lara, but I also felt a deep apprehension about losing her. That fear is still very much there.”

    Tomb Raider: Catalyst is described as Crystal Dynamics’ most ambitious Lara Croft title to date, designed to be accessible to new players without prior lore knowledge.
