Players can expect roughly 10 hours to complete the primary narrative, while diving into side content can extend the total playtime to 25 hours.

Liquid Swords, the development studio founded by Avalanche Studios co-founder Christopher Sundberg, has revealed fresh insights into their upcoming project, Samson: A Tyndalston Story.

The game draws clear inspiration from Avalanche’s most celebrated titles: Mad Max and Just Cause. From Just Cause, it inherits a deep emphasis on physics, momentum, and environmental interaction, though it trades over-the-top spectacle for a more grounded and realistic tone. From Mad Max, it adopts a gritty focus on brutal hand-to-hand combat and high-stakes vehicular warfare.

The combat system moves away from stylized action in favor of functional, deliberate violence. Rather than relying on fixed weapon loadouts, players must scavenge whatever tools are available—be it wrenches, tires, brick fragments, or wooden planks. The environment is built to encourage constant improvisation. While melee weapons can be stored in a vehicle’s trunk, players are always free to find something new on the fly. Every strike carries a palpable sense of weight, capable of splintering the environment and leaving visible wounds on both the protagonist and their enemies.

Driving stands as a pillar of the gameplay experience. The developers have placed a heavy focus on the sensation of mass, inertia, and physical impact, ensuring that every vehicle feels distinct. In a departure from the Grand Theft Auto formula, carjacking isn’t as simple as tossing the driver out; instead, Samson appears to commandeer the vehicle with the owner still inside, suggesting a more intense and unconventional kidnapping dynamic (though specific mechanics are still awaiting confirmation).
