‘Thinking ‘Bout You’ Becomes Dustin Lynch’s 10th Hot Country Songs Top 10, MacKenzie Porter’s First

Dustin Lynch‘s “Thinking ‘Bout You,” featuring MacKenzie Porter, hits the top 10 of Billboard‘s airplay-, sales- and streaming-based Hot Country Songs chart, climbing from No. 11 to No. 8 on the list dated Nov. 6.

In the week ending Oct. 28, the song increased by 10% to 6 million U.S. streams, and sold 1,500 downloads, according to MRC Data. On Country Airplay, it pushes 8-6, with 19.1 million impressions in the week ending Oct. 31.

Lynch co-penned the track with Andy Albert, Hunter Phelps and Will Weatherly.

Lynch, from Tullahoma, Tenn., earns his 10th Hot Country Songs top 10. It follows “Momma’s House,” which reached No. 8 in April. His first entry, “Cowboys and Angels,” hit a career-best No. 2 in October 2012; he matched the peak with “Small Town Boy” in August 2017.

The artist also boasts 10 Country Airplay top 10s, including seven leaders. His latest No. 1, “Ridin’ Roads,” reigned in January 2020.

Porter, who hails from Medicine Hat, Alberta, scores her first Hot Country Songs top 10, in her second visit; she hit No. 45 in May 2020 with “These Days,” which marks one of her three No. 1s on the Canada Country airplay chart.

‘BOAT’ SHOW Zac Brown Band notches its 17th Hot Country Songs top 10, as “Same Boat” ascends 12-10. On Country Airplay, it holds at its No. 3 high (22.8 million, up 2%). It also drew 3.3 million streams and sold 1,100 downloads in the tracking week.

ZBB last visited the list’s upper tier with “My Old Man,” which reached No. 10 in February 2017. The act’s first top 10, “Chicken Fried,” became its first of eight leaders in December 2008.

IN THE LIMELIGHT Jon Pardi earns his eighth Country Airplay top 10 as “Tequila Little Time” rises 12-10, collecting 15.9 million impressions.

Pardi co-authored the song with Luke Laird and Rhett Akins. It’s the third single from Pardi’s latest LP, Heartache Medication, which debuted at No. 2 on Top Country Albums in October 2019. The title track led Country Airplay in February 2020 and follow-up “Ain’t Always the Cowboy” rose to No. 3 in December. (In May 2020, he achieved his fourth and most recent No. 1 as featured on Thomas Rhett’s “Beer Can’t Fix.”)

Meanwhile, Lauren Alaina’s “Getting Over Him,” with Pardi, ranks at No. 35, a new best, on Country Airplay (2.2 million).

SHAKING THINGS UP Another beverage-flavored hit, Walker Hayes’ “Fancy Like,” dominates Hot Country Songs for a 16th week. The crossover success ties Buck Owens’ “Love’s Gonna Live Here” (1963-64), as the 10th-longest-leading No. 1 since Hot Country Songs became an all-encompassing genre songs chart in October 1958.

“Fancy” drew 17.6 million streams and sold 15,400 downloads in the tracking week and tops Country Streaming Songs and Country Digital Song Sales for a 17th and 18th week, respectively. On Country Airplay, it holds at its No. 2 high (26.9 million impressions, down 6%).

The track, which shouts out Applebee’s menu highlights and sparked a commercial sync with the chain (and the return of a tasty treat) after going viral on TikTok, first dominated the Hot Country Songs chart dated July 24.

ALBUM ARRIVALS Lady A’s What a Song Can Do starts at No. 12 on Top Country Albums. Released Oct. 22, it opens with 8,000 equivalent album units. The 14-song LP includes seven songs from What a Song Can Do (Chapter 1), which was released in June.

The act of Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott has tallied 10 top 10 sets, through Ocean (No. 2, November 2019).

“Like a Lady,” the lead single from What a Song Can Do, holds at No. 15 on Country Airplay (11.8 million) and No. 20 on Hot Country Songs.

Also on Top Country Albums, Pistol Annies’ Hell of a Holiday jingles in at No. 28 (6,000 units). It’s the fourth appearance for the group, which comprises Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley, while the 13-song release is its first seasonal set.

Holiday follows Interstate Gospel, which debuted at No. 1 in November 2018, becoming the threesome’s second leader, after Hell on Heels launched on top in September 2011.
