Team Fortress 2 Update from October 23, 2025

An update for Team Fortress 2 is now available and will install automatically when you next restart the game. Notable fixes and changes include:

  • Resolved a crash caused by KeyValues handling.
  • Added a “No Bullets” style option for the Paka Parka.
  • Fixed the Widowmaker not awarding metal when a Spy is disguised as their own team (GitHub fix from Grampa Swood).
  • Corrected on-hit attributes failing to trigger for Spies disguised as their own team (GitHub fix from Grampa Swood).
  • Fixed game-mode prefix checks breaking when loading Workshop maps (GitHub fix from LizardOfOz).
  • Added null-pointer checks tied to the recent casual-doors fix (GitHub fix from Bitl).
  • Prevented Gas Passer gas from affecting players inside spawn rooms (GitHub fix from Bitl).
  • Corrected a typo in a logical expression (GitHub fix from Ian Brun).
  • Stopped Vaccinator charge sounds from playing multiple times per tick (GitHub fix from treacherousfiend).
  • Fixed an event text leak in CTFHudPasstimeBallStatus (GitHub fix from Dmitry Tsarevich).
  • Prevented Minigun barrel movement from being updated multiple times per tick (GitHub fix from Marioiscool246).
  • Fixed CHealthAccountPanel so negative values use NegativeColor (GitHub fix from Bradasparky).
  • Improved the random-class selection algorithm to lower the chance of failure (GitHub fix from Bradasparky).
  • Fixed a KeyValues memory leak affecting bird entities (GitHub fix from CosminPerRam).
  • Corrected Team Spirit Footprints to display BLU team coloring properly (GitHub fix from Herobrine0412).
  • Fixed animation playback in the class-selection menu (GitHub fix from Hunter Kvalevog).
  • Mann Co. Catalog controls updated to match the Workshop dialog behavior (GitHub fix from Liam Stone).
  • Fixed the Globetrotter so the secondary style no longer uses the wrong BLU team skin.
  • Updated and added several tournament medals.
  • Seamann’s Stubble updates:
    • Improved the normal map for better shading.
    • Updated the backpack icon.
  • arena_afterlife update:
    • Fixed a rare regression where players in Hell could be counted as alive.
  • koth_dusker updates:
    • Prevented building inside RED spawn.
    • Removed an unintended perch outside BLU spawn.
    • Added a visual boundary for the capture zone.
  • zi_atoll, zi_blazehattan, zi_devastation_final1, zi_murky, zi_sanitarium, and zi_woods:
    • Patched an exploit that allowed Zombie Spies to disguise as Survivors.
  • ctf_doublecross_event improvements:
    • Made significant FPS improvements, especially around the bridge.
    • Reduced particle and prop usage across the map.
    • Removed the minify-spell roll and replaced it with a single-charge teleport spell (Thanks Lizard of Oz).
    • Extended window frames between opposing bases and adjusted raised shacks to limit Sniper sightlines.
    • Removed the two spell books positioned just outside each base door.
    • Slightly increased the respawn time for the rare spell book.
    • Added Gargoyle spawn points.
    • Fixed several minor visual issues and clipping bugs (thanks to Lilly, The Rat Man, Dr. Maxi, and everyone who reported them).
