Sales for both BG3 and D:OS 2 have been incredible since the announcement of Divinity. D:OS 2 really surprised us by having its best month since release in 2017. Wish I’d removed the squirrel in time 🙂 https://t.co/fXTEUtuS7r
For a role-playing game that launched nearly three years ago and focuses largely on the single-player experience, these figures are stellar. SteamDB data also shows that Original Sin 2 reached a peak of 27,000 concurrent users around the start of the year, bolstered by a deep 75% discount on the Enhanced Edition. That represents over a quarter of the title’s all-time peak of 93,701.
These Steam statistics don’t even account for the console market, where Divinity: Original Sin 2 made its debut on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2 in December 2025. Larian was clearly prepared for this massive wave of enthusiasm.
The teaser for the new Divinity certainly did its job of piquing curiosity. With its blend of dark rituals, sinister powers, and provocative imagery, it’s hard not to be intrigued by what Larian is cooking up next.
Vincke concluded his update with a playful jab at one of Original Sin 2’s most notorious companions: Sir Lora. “I really should have cut that squirrel while I had the chance,” he joked. Given the current sales figures, it seems the quirky squirrel didn’t do much to hurt the game’s appeal.
