Ross, however, remains firm in his stance. Responding to Rosner, he argued that his software is an independent tool rather than “fan content.” He pointed out that the mod contains no original game code or assets and is designed to support a wide array of titles beyond those owned by CD Projekt Red.

“I am still open to a mutually beneficial solution that allows fans to experience Night City in VR without compromising our interests,” Ross suggested, referencing past proposals to make the mod “official” that were previously ignored. He believes the current legal confrontation is an unfortunate way to handle a creative misunderstanding.

Ross currently maintains a $10 monthly Patreon tier for access to his suite of VR mods. While earnings fluctuate, past reports suggested his work generated significant monthly revenue, underscoring the high demand for immersive gaming experiences.

For now, it seems Ross has no intention of making the Cyberpunk 2077 mod free. Instead, he is pivoting to new horizons, including a VR mod for Baldur’s Gate 3, which has already been released in early form. “It might be a bit unpolished for now, but we’ll refine it, as we always do,” he concluded.
