Team Fortress 2 Update from December 19, 2024

A new update for Team Fortress 2 has been rolled out and will automatically apply when you restart the game. The key changes are as follows:

  • The Brain Cane has been updated to resolve texture and phong value issues.
  • Changes to The Battle Music include:
    • A missing Hat style has been added.
    • Clipping issues on Heavy’s ears and misalignment on Engineer have been fixed.
    • Noise Cancellation has been improved and strengthened.
    • The materials have been updated to restore shine.
    • The backpack icon has been updated to reflect these material changes.
  • Updates to cp_gravelpit_snowy feature:
    • A fix for potential conflicts with external VScript files (thanks, Le Codex!)
    • Cubemap reflections have been re-implemented in the ice cave.
    • Perch spots have been fixed.
  • Various updates to maps vsh_distillery, vsh_maul, vsh_nucleus, vsh_outburst, vsh_skirmish, and vsh_tinyrock include:
    • Hale’s resistance to knockback has been restored to 75%.
    • The bonus flame damage against Hale has been reduced from 50% to 25%.
    • Hale can perform one additional Brave Jump before Jump Fatigue sets in (thanks, Wendy).
    • Weighdown is no longer hindered by Jump Fatigue (thanks, Wendy).
    • The area-of-effect from Hale’s normal punches has been removed (thanks, Wendy).
    • Demoman shields now absorb 70% of Saxton Punch! damage (up from the usual 50%) for better survivability after a launch into the stratosphere.
    • Fixes have been made to prevent Hale from taking mini-crits from Direct Hit and Reserve Shooter while underwater (thanks, Bradasparky).
    • Resolved issues with airborne mini-crits from Direct Hit and Reserve Shooter affecting the wielder (thanks, Bradasparky).
    • Hale can no longer stomp underwater (thanks, Bradasparky).
    • Sweeping Charge now functions against underwater opponents.
    • Fixed a bug preventing Quick-Fix from mirroring a patient’s wall climbing (thanks, Bradasparky).
    • Hale’s ground detection has been corrected (thanks, Bradasparky).
    • Fixed the issue where Baby Face’s Blaster’s loss of boost was not applying correctly (thanks, Whurr and MilkMaster72).
    • Voice lines should now play consistently.
  • For map pl_patagonia:
    • Stage 1:
      • Resolved an issue where the cart could go under the elevator in rare cases (Thanks, Shocked).
      • Fixed occasional occurrences of external soundscapes being heard inside the blue spawn.
      • Blocked construction on a high rooftop post-point A.
      • Prevented construction within the blue spawn.
      • The cart elevator is now more stable.
      • Fixed the cart not rolling back after completing its descent sequence.
      • In overtime, if the cart rolls into the elevator, the round timer will set to 5 seconds to prevent unfair losses for blue. The timer will resume once the cart reaches the bottom (Thanks, I. C. Wiener).
    • Stage 2:
      • Removed rollback on the train container ramp at the last point (Thanks, b4nny).
      • Provided blue team with more high ground at the last point.
      • Added a new dropdown for blue at the final point.
      • Fixed teleportation into red spawn for blue players after capping point A.
      • Removed the long hill rollback before point C.
      • Fixed bots getting stuck on the closed train doors after capping point B.
      • Prevented ability to place stickies in the last blue spawn.
      • Resolved an issue where players could get trapped in the point C shortcut door for red, which will now result in death if trapped.
      • Fixed pop-in issues with areaportals below point B.
      • Blocked access to the last blue spawn for red players.
      • A birdie correction (Thanks, Explocivo808).
    • Stage 3:
      • Added a fenced section to the long wood cover wall at the last point (Thanks, b4nny).
      • Mirrored the window sniper spot in the choke point of the last area.
      • Prevented construction behind a displacement rock wall at the last point.
      • Removed a troll teleportation spot on the final ramp of the last point.
    • All Stages:
      • Slight adjustments to lower sun brightness and slightly raise skylight brightness.
      • Enhanced transitions between skyboxes.
      • The cart’s physics behaviors have been fixed.
      • Increased mobility for Ninjaneers.
      • Bots now have improved map navigation.
      • The cart has received a new “coronación de gloria.”
