Team Fortress 2 Update from February 18, 2025

An update for Team Fortress 2 has been released. It will be automatically applied once you restart the game. Key updates include:

  • Included missing files for Taunt: The Travel Agent
  • Added No Hat styles for the Cozy Cover-Up
  • Implemented VScript support for the HIDEHUD_MATCH_STATUS flag to conceal the Match Status panel
  • Introduced a borderless window option in video settings
  • Incorporated bicubic lightmaps from the Half-Life 2: 20th Anniversary Update
  • Implemented radial fog from the Half-Life 2: 20th Anniversary Update
  • Added Steam Networking support
  • Updated the default server name for listen servers to include the player’s name
  • Set the game to launch in its native resolution by default instead of 640×480
  • Client-side prediction improvements to address ‘jank’/rollback in some scenarios
    • Resolved a prediction issue where the player’s input-based movement wasn’t considered in non-player actions when the client moved the player
    • Enhanced prediction for movement on props and other entities
    • Adjusted certain client-side entities to only produce local prediction errors
      • For instance, a viewmodel prediction error won’t result in a player prediction error
    • Corrected prediction of viewmodel sway
    • Fixed a prediction issue with weapon idle animations
  • Corrected issues with certain breakable props not gibbing properly
  • Fixed an issue where certain variables like position weren’t updated correctly to align with the server in some situations
  • Corrected a subtle out-of-sync problem between client/server for player’s base velocity (e.g., conveyors, moving objects)
  • Resolved an issue allowing players to spam duel cancellation messages for a non-existent duel
  • Fixed issues with joining community servers through Steam invites or game info
  • Corrected lighting position errors for cosmetic items, weapons, and viewmodels (thanks to a community fix from ficool2)
  • Adjusted the Equipped label overlapping attribute icons in the loadout menu (thanks to a community fix from Lindon)
  • Resolved issues with props and team colors when taunting with Australium weapons
  • Fixed Voices from Below effect malfunction when taunting with the Highland Hound set
  • Resolved player voice commands being abruptly cut when entering shallow water
  • Corrected the wrong number on the Geneva Contravention achievement icon
  • Ensured the Military Style for The Surgeon General remains semi-visible at all angles
  • Fixed missing BLU team material for certain classes with That ’70s Chapeau
  • Corrected the Spanish-Latin America language option displaying as English in the Settings menu
  • Fixed the MOTD dialog not functioning for Spanish-Latin America
  • Updated attribute descriptions for The Scottish Resistance and the Stickybomb Jumper to use ‘stickybomb’ instead of ‘pipebomb’
  • Adjusted equip_region settings for The Little Bear, The Heavy-Weight Champ, The Grand Duchess Tutu, and the Combat Slacks to resolve unnecessary conflicts
  • Updated Spooky Night and Ominous Night Unusual taunt effects to fix a visual bug (Thanks Kiffy!)
  • Enhanced optimization in koth_overcast_final
  • Updated ctf_applejack
    • Implemented block bullets to some stores
    • Unblocked a window at mid, allowing Snipers to shoot across the central hut
    • Removed the missing texture in BLU spawn
    • Added a friend to a chicken, celebrating friendship
  • Updated cp_fortezza
    • New radio model for spawn rooms
    • Changed sentry shack ammo pack on last to a medium pack
    • Modified health pickups throughout the map
    • Adjusted kill volume on cap A double doors for visual consistency
    • Enhanced bot support (Thanks Star Bright)
    • Conducted a detail pass
  • Updated pl_patagonia
    • [Stage 1]
      • Resolved RED bots stuck attempting an impossible jump on stairs outside spawn
      • Fixed the cart not capping the first point on rare occasions

      • Fixed a nodraw floor near the first BLU spawn train bridge waterfall
      • Corrected the 3D skybox appearing pitch black for players using mat_hdr_level 2

      • Fixed Wrap Assassin baubles colliding with a solid func_brush bounding box outside BLU spawn
      • Removed the platform above the open choke of the final point
      • Added an additional pathway to the window overlooking the final point’s open choke
      • Resolved RED bots getting stuck on a solid fence outside the RED spawn
      • Corrected the 3D skybox appearing pitch black for players using mat_hdr_level 2
