Writing to fans on X (formerly Twitter), Barone stated: “A patch to address the crafting glitch and refine mouse controls for the NS2 edition of Stardew Valley is currently in development. I have decided to hold the European release until these fixes are ready, as the crafting bug can lead to the unintended loss of player items.”
If you are currently playing the NS2 version, please note that crafting specific recipes may cause the game to consume unintended items from your inventory. To avoid this, clear your inventory of everything except the necessary materials and avoid using the workbench for now. December 30, 2025
The developer warned that certain recipes trigger a glitch where the game “eats” items from the player’s inventory—even those not required for the craft. To mitigate risk, Barone suggests emptying your backpack of all valuables before crafting and avoiding the workbench entirely. He also noted that the original Switch version (NS1) appears to suffer from a similar issue, which will also be addressed in the upcoming update.
While no specific release date for the patch was provided beyond “coming soon,” fans hope the wait for a stable version—and the EU launch—won’t be a long one. Meanwhile, rumors suggest the Stardew Valley 1.7 update could be just as transformative as the last, with Barone hinting that there is “plenty more” content on the horizon.
