Star Wars Jedi games to be released on Nintendo Switch 2 at Disney’s request – insider

According to industry insider Nash Weedle, the Star Wars Jedi series is headed to the Nintendo Switch 2, driven by a new strategic directive from Disney. The entertainment giant is reportedly pushing to ensure its major gaming franchises are accessible on the upcoming handheld platform.

This initiative suggests that future entries in the saga, such as the recently unveiled Fate of the Old Republic and EA’s third Star Wars Jedi installment, are also destined for the Switch 2.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has enjoyed a phenomenal launch, comfortably exceeding initial sales forecasts. The console emerged as a holiday season standout, moving 220,000 units in Japan alone. Having already reached 10 million global sales, the hardware is on track to hit the 20-million mark within its first year on the market.

Nash Weedle specifically noted that both Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor are slated for a release on the next-gen system in the near future.

The platform has already demonstrated its capabilities with Ubisoft’s Star Wars: Outlaws, which performed admirably on the hardware. Consequently, the Switch 2 is increasingly being viewed as a primary destination for major AAA blockbuster titles.
