Smooth! BTS & Megan Thee Stallion Officially Announce Their ‘Butter’ Remix — and It’s Coming Soon

BTS‘ ARMY and Megan Thee Stallion‘s Hotties can let out a sigh of relief. After a complicated legal battle, the artists announced on Wednesday (Aug. 25) that their highly anticipated remix of “Butter” is set to release this Friday (Aug. 27).

“LOVE YOU ALLL,” the rapper captioned an image of the remix’s art on Instagram, adding the sparkle heart and bawling emojis. “BUTTER REMIX 8.27.”

Meanwhile, the global pop superstars shared the news of the upcoming remix via one of their official Twitter accounts, retweeting label Big Hit’s announcement. “Yes, ‘Butter’ is back!” they tweeted with the stick of butter emoji and pink heart.

Later, the “Savage” rapper shared her excitement on Twitter. “Y’all don’t even understand how excited I am,” she tweeted. Naturally, Meg included emojis of several sticks of the smooth dairy product, as well as flames and crying emojis.

The announcement comes after the rapper, born Megan Pete, filed a temporary restraining order on Tuesday (Aug. 24) against her label, 1501 Certified Entertainment, to allow the release of the “Butter” remix after 1501’s CEO, Carl Crawford, and his partner, Rap-A-Lot’s J. Prince, did not provide approval for the track. The decision was also backed by 300 Entertainment — Megan Thee Stallion’s music distributors for 1501 —  which gave a co-sign to block the release of the “Butter (Remix).”

In the documents, Megan Thee Stallion pleaded for the release of the “Butter (Remix)” and stated that if the song wasn’t released, her “art will be impacted, the release of the song derailed, and Pete’s goodwill, reputation, and overall career will suffer detrimental, undesirable, and irreversible harm.” In the filing, the rapper also said that failing to deliver the song would have a “devastating impact to her relationships with her fans and with other recording artists in the music industry.”

A judge later ruled in favor of the rapper Tuesday, allowing her to extend her temporary restraining order, and thus release the remix.

“Butter (Remix)” is now set to arrive at 12 a.m. ET on Friday, and will undoubtedly continue a successful year for both Megan Thee Stallion and BTS. “Butter” just celebrated its thirteenth week on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, while the “Savage” rapper hit the top 20 of the chart earlier this year with “Thot Shit.”
