Skyrim Switch 2 Port Disappoints Fans: Crashes and Lag From the Start

The launch of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on the Nintendo Switch 2 was anticipated as yet another nostalgic homecoming for the legendary RPG, but players have instead encountered one of the most lackluster iterations of the game to date.

Recent feedback suggests the port is plagued by instability. The game is prone to crashing within the opening minutes, often before the player can even choose a side between the Imperials and the Stormcloaks. These recurring failures necessitate complete restarts, while additional bugs surface when trying to resume play from a locked console or while navigating the system’s home menu.

From a technical standpoint, the situation is equally discouraging. Skyrim on the Switch 2 is capped at 30 fps and lacks any graphical presets, performance modes, or resolution scaling features. This optimization is baffling, considering the hardware is capable of running titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Star Wars Outlaws, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Furthermore, there is a significant amount of input lag in both docked and handheld modes, making combat and world exploration feel frustratingly unresponsive.

Although the port includes the full suite of DLC and Creation Club support, these additions may only serve to further degrade performance given the current state of the software.
