Foldable iPhone Not Expected Until 2027
It was initially anticipated that the first foldable iPhone would be released in 2026. However, TrendForce, which tracks demand for components, reports that Apple has encountered technical issues, delaying the smartphone’s release by several years.
The company is still in the process of verifying potential components, with the folding mechanism being a critical issue. Current technologies do not fully eliminate the crease, which is highly susceptible to minor damages and suffers from frequent bending.
Currently, foldable smartphones occupy only 1.5% of the entire market, but growth is expected to reach 4.8% and higher by 2028.
