Silksong’s Latest Patch Introduces Numerous Sneaky, Unmentioned Changes

Unlisted Changes Found After Patch 2

In a precision-focused Metroidvania like Hollow Knight: Silksong, even the smallest adjustment can reshape a run. Although Team Cherry outlined several key fixes in their Patch 2 blog post, the community has uncovered additional tweaks that weren’t documented. Some are cosmetic; others may meaningfully change combat and tool choices.

Charge Attacks Now Generate Silk

The most consequential discovery: charge attacks now produce silk. That makes them a more sustainable counter to airborne foes — you can rely on the technique without draining your silk reserves. If you equip the Hunter’s Crest, charge attacks will create two silk pips instead of one. The lone outlier is the Architect Crest: independent number-testing suggests charge attack output with that crest was reduced by roughly 29%. (player testing).

Flintslate and Crest Interactions

The Flintslate tool appears to have been strengthened for certain crest setups. When paired with the Hunter, Reaper, or Beast Crest, Flintslate charge attacks deal approximately 50% more damage than before. Players using other crests, however, report a decrease in Flintslate effectiveness.

Clawline and Volt Filament Adjustments

Clawline’s potency is slightly reduced when you have the Hunter focus buff active, making that particular focus less dominant for claw builds. Conversely, Volt Filament now behaves more in line with its intended design: instead of only adding a few hits, activating Volt Filament noticeably amplifies the damage of your Silk Skills.

Other Notable Tweaks

The Cogwork Wheel’s stack size has been reduced: you can now carry up to 10 instead of 16. (Community notes available on Reddit.)

There may be more subtle changes not captured in official notes. Kudos to the community for spotting these quickly — and if you were thinking of swapping out an Architect Crest, remember: it’s less oppressive after these adjustments, but still a strong choice depending on your build.
