
Yacht Club is best known for Shovel Knight, and Mina the Hollower continues in that spirit while shifting to a top-down action-adventure format. Its presentation deliberately evokes classic Game Boy Zelda entries like Link’s Awakening, combined with Gothic-horror touches reminiscent of Castlevania and an assortment of subweapons — a blend that made Mina feel like a very promising follow-up from the start.
A strong Steam Next Fest demo helped build excitement, and for those of us who grew up on the games inspiring Mina, it has been one of the most anticipated indies in recent memory. I’m happy to wait a little longer for the finished product.
“The game is so close to being done,” the developers reassure. “We’re playing it from start to finish every day.” Soon, the rest of us should get to do the same.
