David Szymanski’s acclaimed claustrophobic horror experience has officially surfaced on mobile platforms.
Iron Lung, the minimalist underwater horror title from independent developer David Szymanski—the creative mind behind DUSK and Gloomwood—has made its debut on Android. Originally launched on PC in March 2022, the game has since garnered a “Very Positive” reception, maintaining a 92% approval rating among Steam users.
The narrative unfolds entirely within the stifling, rusted confines of a one-person submersible nicknamed the “Iron Lung.” Players are tasked with navigating a desolate ocean of blood on a remote moon, capturing photographic evidence at designated coordinates while attempting to evade the nameless terrors lurking in the crimson depths.
Due to the extreme atmospheric pressure, the submarine’s porthole remains permanently sealed. Navigation relies solely on an incomplete map, proximity sensors, auditory cues, and a primitive external camera. This camera provides the player’s only glimpse of the outside world, producing grainy, low-fidelity snapshots of the unsettling environment.
Iron Lung is currently available for purchase on Google Play. Beyond the mobile port, a feature film adaptation of the game is currently in production, with a theatrical release projected for 2026.
