Dedicated enthusiasts are racing to unravel a newly discovered enigma before the long-awaited debut of GTA VI.
Since its 2018 release, Red Dead Redemption 2 has earned a reputation for its staggering depth, featuring a vast array of side quests, clandestine collectibles, and buried secrets. Now, over seven years later, the player community is united in an effort to decode a fresh conundrum known as the “Spider Dream Mystery.”
The investigation was sparked by the appearance of unique cobwebs that manifest only during specific hours of the night. Within the game’s internal data, the feathers found on these webs are designated as “spiderdream,” providing the unofficial title for this digital scavenger hunt.
The trail begins at a telegraph pole situated near Cornwall Kerosene & Tar, where a spider has been etched into the wood. A web adorned with a feather occasionally appears atop this pole, though only within a fleeting temporal window. This carved spider serves as a directional guide, pointing players toward seven other webs that mirror the same pattern.
These ethereal webs materialize in the dead of night—usually appearing between 2:00 AM and 4:00 AM—before vanishing as day approaches. At the center of this “spider” layout is a larger, featherless web visible between 1:00 AM and 2:00 AM. When viewed from a precise angle, this web aligns with the silhouette of the telegraph pole to form the letter “N.”
Following this cue, players headed due north from the central web to find another pole that can be damaged by gunfire. Shooting away the wood reveals the letter “W” and a cryptic mark indicating a distance of five poles.
Shifting five poles to the west, hunters discovered another destructible post. Once “opened” by a gunshot, it displays the inscription “NW” alongside an icon that bears a striking resemblance to a guitar.
At this point, the trail has gone cold. While heading northwest leads toward a literal guitar found in Fort Wallace and the snowy reaches of Spider Gorge, interacting with these locations has yet to yield a breakthrough.
Players are currently testing various theories, such as shooting the feathers in a specific chronological order or scouring the frontier for additional environmental cues. Despite the intense effort, the final resolution to this intricate puzzle remains out of reach for now.
