Sad and Lonely: Minecraft Ad Offends Fans of Single-Player Mode

A controversial marketing tactic for Minecraft’s subscription service has sparked a backlash within the gaming community.

Recently, the developers behind Minecraft launched a new promotional campaign for their premium Realms Plus subscription. However, the phrasing they chose proved to be quite divisive among the player base:

One is the loneliest number. Stop wandering through Realms all by yourself like some melancholy wandering trader. Bring your friends along! Sad and Lonely: Minecraft Ad Offends Fans of Single-Player Mode

Reddit user Cautious-Surround340 and numerous other community members criticized Mojang for the ad, arguing that it insensitive toward players who genuinely enjoy or rely on the game’s single-player experience:

Many people, including some of my own friends, play this game solo as a way to cope with depression and other mental health challenges. It would be great if Mojang removed this message, or at the very least, deleted that first line.
