RTX Remaster of Soldier of Fortune in Development — Modder Shows Gameplay with Enhanced Graphics
Thanks to NVIDIA’s technologies, enthusiasts can independently revive and modernize a classic.
Recently, players have begun revisiting Soldier of Fortune. A modder known as Pathtraced Paradise published gameplay footage of an updated version of the shooter.
They used NVIDIA RTX Remix along with generative AI to upscale textures. In addition, the modder is introducing PBR materials (physically based rendering) and hand-touched textures.
In the current build of the RTX remaster, the first three levels and the tutorial are partially complete; development is ongoing.
They pointed out that only a few light sources are in place so far, since much of the game is lit via emissive textures — as a result, some areas may appear quite dark.
