Amy Taylor, the powerhouse frontwoman of the Australian rock sensation Amyl and The Sniffers, has launched a lawsuit against a prominent American photographer. The legal dispute arises from allegations that the photographer sold portraits from a magazine editorial as commercial fine art without the singer’s authorization.

According to documents submitted to a California district court, Taylor’s representatives have accused Jamie Nelson of unauthorized commercial exploitation. The images in question were originally captured for a Vogue Portugal feature. While the editorial, titled “Champagne Problems,” was published in July 2025 and gained significant traction on social media, Taylor’s team took issue when prints appeared for sale on Nelson’s personal website.

The prints were reportedly listed at prices ranging from $1,500 to $3,600, a slight markdown from an original $4,000 asking price. On her website, Nelson characterized the photo series as a “visual dialogue” between two artists who both embody “defiance, glamour, and authenticity.”

The session took place at Nelson’s Los Angeles residence, a location she calls her “iconic vintage pink palace.” The shoot was intended to highlight Taylor’s fierce punk persona and her distinctively sharp Australian sense of humor. However, the transition from editorial art to high-priced merchandise has sparked a fierce legal battle.

As reported by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, the court filings include a stern letter from the band’s manager, Simone Ubaldi of Sundowner Artists. In the correspondence, Ubaldi explicitly condemned the sale of Taylor’s likeness.

“I cannot be clearer about this—Ms. Taylor does not want you to sell images of her face or her body as fine art prints,” the letter states. “If you had been transparent… about your intentions to sell the photos, she would have said no to the shoot. We simply would have said no.”

Jamie Nelson is a highly regarded figure in the industry, with her work appearing in prestigious titles like Vanity Fair, Playboy, and Vogue. Her portfolio boasts collaborations with major musical acts, including Gwen Stefani, Halsey, Camila Cabello, and Megan Thee Stallion.

This legal friction arrives during a period of unprecedented success for Amyl and The Sniffers. The band has solidified their status as Australia’s premier rock export, recently securing a BRIT Award nomination, four ARIA Awards, and a 2026 Grammy nod for Best Rock Performance for their hit “U Should Not Be Doing That.”

In addition to the band’s collective achievements, Taylor recently collaborated with electronic producer Fred Again.. on the track “you’re a star.” The group also capped off a massive year by opening for AC/DC during their triumphant stadium tour across Australia—a performance Taylor described as a dream come true for fans of “the best band in the world.”
