“We have always viewed this series as a trilogy,” studio head Jerk Gustafsson remarked during a previous discussion. “The journey for BJ was mapped out from the very beginning. Even while we were finishing The New Order at id Software, we had a clear plan for the second and third entries. I truly hope we aren’t finished with Wolfenstein yet, as there is still a significant story left to tell.”

The direction this final chapter will take is a subject of intense speculation. 2017’s Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus took the fight to an occupied United States, utilizing a provocative marketing campaign that leaned into real-world political discourse with slogans like “Make America Nazi-free again.”
The sequel concluded with the early sparks of a nationwide revolution. However, the timeline became more complex with the release of the co-op spin-off, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, which leaped forward several decades to a world where the regime had been largely purged from the Americas, though the war continued across Europe.
This leaves the setting for Wolfenstein 3 wide open. The game could bridge the gap between the events of the second game and Youngblood, or it could serve as a contemporary finale to the saga. One thing seems almost certain: fans are expecting a truly climactic confrontation, perhaps finally delivering the modern Mecha-Hitler battle the series has been building toward for decades.
To this day, Wolfenstein 2 is regarded as one of the finest first-person shooters available on modern platforms.
